Emmys 2019: 10 Most Outrageous Nomination Snubs
7. True Detective - Outstanding Limited Drama Series

True Detective Season One was a phenomenal season of television, securing nominations for writing, directing and both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. However, it missed out on the big enchilada of Outstanding Limited Series, and Season Three has followed suit.
Season Two didn’t deserve to be in the conversation, but the third offering, while flawed, was a real phoenix moment. The fact it’s not only missed out on the big category but writing and directing too feels a bitter pill to swallow.
There’s some big guns in the Limited Series category, but Fosse/Verdon and Sharp Objects were both seemed slightly short of True Detective’s level. Fosse/Verdon especially feels unnecessarily showered in nominations after a lukewarm critical and commercial response to it.
Perhaps True Detective still couldn’t quite crawl out from Rust & Marty’s shadow.
Mahershala Ali has at least been nominated as Outstanding Lead for True Detective, but he’s destined to be an also ran.
It seems grossly unfair that only one of Jharrel Jerome or Jared Harris can win the category after their stunning turns in When They See Us and Chernobyl; both are easily the two best performances on television this year; maybe this decade. Whoever misses out will be desperately unlucky.
