Emmys 2019: 10 Most Outrageous Nomination Snubs

6. The Jelly Lakes - Outstanding Animated Program (Tuca & Bertie)

True Detective Season 3 Premiere4
Netflix

There’s a few categories that you can pretty much write off from the start. If you’re playing Emmy bingo, you can’t afford not to have BoJack Horseman’s Free Churro as the winner here.

BoJack’s Time’s Arrow was overlooked completely last year as Rick & Morty’s Pickle Rick romped to a largely unchallenged victory. Looking at the competition, BoJack looks set to follow in its footprints.

Tuca & Bertie though, as probably the best new animated show since BoJack itself, deserved some recognition. With its similar animation style, it’s like BoJack’s little cousin, though its humour is more of the Broad City variety.

The show would’ve gotten a huge signal boost from a nomination in its first year, but more than that, looking at the competition, it simply deserved it. The Simpsons is growing stale, and Mad About The Toy wasn’t even as good as E My Sports or Woo Hoo Dunnit.

Likewise, while Bob’s Burgers is one of the best cartoons around, Just One Of The Boyz 4 Now For Now was a pretty tepid premiere. Against The Helen Hunt or The Taking Of Funtime OneTwoThree, Tuca & Bertie might have struggled, but against this lot, it should have been in there comfortably.
