Every Episode Of Atlanta Season One Ranked Worst To Best
1. Episode 7 - B.A.N
The genius of Atlanta comes from the show's observation on contemporary culture and what modern day sleuths might call satire. When the show consciously steps out it's own narrative, that is when it really displays its potential.
B.A.N is less of an episode, and more of a series of vignettes and skits that call out the elaborate holes virtuous signalling can find itself buried in. The setup is Alfred Miles/Paper Boi as a panel member on a Charlie Rose-style discussion show (called Montague) in which hot topics are broken down.
To dive into the nuance of the episode could take an age to explain, but rest assured that the episode- while a step away from the current narratives the show had been building up to, it really presents the tone Donald Glover has been trying to say through Atlanta.
Paper Boi has become a mild celebrity at this point, and for some reason (like in real life) he is being asked to comment correctly on events and circumstances that are either absurd and laughable, or just something he doesn't think about.
If nothing else; the off-screen appearance of Earn and Alfred's contempt for the situation reinforces the business relationship between the two leads.
