Every Episode Of Atlanta Season One Ranked Worst To Best
3. Episode 10 - The Jacket
Earn's couch-surfing had been one of the more substantial through-lines of the first season of Atlanta, and in the season finale it all comes to a head in one of the most unexpected ways.
The episode's plot circles around Earn's die-hard attempt to locate a jacket he was wearing the night of a party. Following the trail of breadcrumbs, we might be poised to ask ourselves "why care so much about a jacket?". Earn has never struck audiences as sentimental about anything, until you realize that it wasn't the jacket itself he was after but the contents inside.
The puzzles fall into place, and after Earn politely declines couches and beds from Alfred and Van respectively, we discover the reality that he has been sleeping with all his worldly possessions in a storage facility.
It's a profound moment to watch, and only made the more thoughtful when you realize how far Earn will go to make it on his own, and nine prior episodes showing how tempting it is to receive the aid from others.
A lot of the show is about Earn's pride, and what better way to show the culmination that in the season one finale.
