24. Mason's Rats

The Very Pulse of the Machine
Netflix

This violent and totally disposable war story follows a farmer who buys a robot to help him fight off the colony of rats infesting his barn.

Mason's Rats is as weird as it sounds, painting a bloody portrait of small scale war that is as amusing as it is eventually touching in its peaceful final moments. The consumer culture metaphor is, as ever, too on the nose to be as clever as it clearly thinks it is, but subtle worldbuilding makes up for it.

If you're after a funny and easily digestible tale from Love, Death & Robots, you can do much worse. But then again, you can also do much better.
