Every MCU Disney+ Series Ranked Worst To Best (So Far)

4. The Falcon & The Winter Soldier

Both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes have been supporting characters to Captain America for their entire time in the MCU, but with Steve Rogers now gone, this allowed both to step into the spotlight and become main characters in their own right.

Both Falcon and the Winter Soldier excelled in this series. The show’s underlying themes of race, discrimination, and representation were powerful throughout, brought to life by Isaiah Bradley before Sam ultimately took on the Captain America handle. This was the first time Marvel truly tackled these very real issues, and the series deserves to be applauded for it. However, it certainly lacked in other areas.

The pacing of the six episodes was all over the place, and while there was one stand out episode where John Walker showed his true colours to the whole world, it felt like it took forever to get there. Even after this huge episode where it felt like things could start to get moving towards the latter half of the series, it never truly picked up to what it could be.

Then there is the villain. Karli Morgenthau was arguably the worst antagonist on display on Disney+ so far, as her message was compelling enough, but her actual character came across as boring and flat. Even the return of Zemo couldn’t boost the series as much as would have been expected.

Still, the purpose of the series was essentially to bring Sam Wilson into the Captain America title, and this it did with great success.
