7. Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (1982)

Star Trek Seven And Janeway
Paramount Pictures

The second Star Trek film, The Wrath Of Khan features the return of one of the most beloved villains from The Original Series, Khan, the cryogenically frozen super soldier from Earth's past who the Enterprise crew revived in the episode, Space Seed. Khan and his followers seek vengeance on Kirk and the Federation for stranding them on Ceti Alpha V.

Aside from the amazing conflict between Kirk and Khan, this movie was also great because it introduced the Genesis Device, an amazing invention that can automatically terraform planets to sustain life. Unfortunately, the Genesis Device could also be a powerful weapon, as Khan soon learns. The events of this movie lead to the creation of the Genesis planet, which becomes very important to Spock's resurrection in the next film, The Search For Spock.

Getting to know Kirk's estranged family is neat too. It's eye-opening to see how the Captain's many adventures through space have stopped him from fulfilling his duties as a father.

The Wrath Of Khan is a classic, plain and simple.
