Every Umbrella Academy Episode Ranked Worst To Best

15. Number Five (S1E5)

Number 5 Luther Umbrella Academy
Netflix

By the fifth episode of The Umbrella Academy, there was a lot going on within the narrative of the story. After four episodes of uncertainty, and not truly knowing who Hazel and Cha-Cha were, and why they were after 5 in the first place, we finally had some of the biggest blanks filled in.

Thanks to the introduction of the Handler, we were finally able to understand more about 5's past in the future after four episodes of uncertainty, but it was the story outside of the oncoming apocalypse that stood out in this episode.

Allison and Vanya continued their, for the moment, sub-plot that, although may have seemed slow at the time, would pay off by the end of the season. Klaus and Diego offered the strongest moments of the episode, as they were both stripped back from their powers and where they fit in the family, and showed their human sides.

At this point in the series it was rare to see any of the Hargreeves children actually act like siblings, and this was a refreshing change of dynamic for these two brothers.
