Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode Two
6. Hannibal Zemo
One of the most exciting aspects of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier from the very start was the return of Daniel Brühl's Helmut Zemo. Even before Thanos, the Sokovian was a villain who succeeded in his plan. He may have ultimately been caught, but not before his goal of tearing the Avengers apart was achieved.
Zemo is smart, and incredibly calculating, which makes him very dangerous indeed. He is far from the most powerful of antagonists in the MCU, in fact he is one of the physically weakest, but his brains and fact that he has nothing left to lose make him a substantial threat.
With no appearance from Zemo in the first episode, fans began to wonder how he would tie into the series, with most believing he would be the main antagonist. The final moments of episode two presented them their answer. Sam and Bucky will go to Zemo themselves while he is still locked up, looking for advice on HYDRA and the super soldiers.
This is extremely similar to how Hannibal Lecter was first introduced in The Silence of the Lambs, and if the trailers are anything to go by, their similarities may not end there, as Zemo seems certain to escape his incarceration before the end of the series.
