2. Road To Rhode Island
Way back in season two of Family Guy, long before the ‘Road to’ episodes became something of a series within a series, came the very first one. Brian and Stewie weren’t yet an iconic duo, but this episode would certainly get them on their way.
With Brian needing to clear his head while having a drinking problem and thinking about being abandoned by his mother, he travelled to Palm Springs to pick up Stewie from Lois’ parents. However, their tickets were lost, and they were forced to find an alternative route home by way of Austin, Texas to see Brian’s mother.
At the risk of stating the obvious, the dynamic between Brian and Stewie was fantastic in this episode. If it wasn’t, the show likely wouldn’t have been compelled to produce seven more episodes in the same vein over the next two decades.
Easily the best part of ‘Road to Rhode Island’ however, is the impossibly catchy song of the same name. As Brian and Stewie, Seth MacFarlane duets with himself in arguably the strongest song of the series, as the two characters grow to become closer than ever before.
