Family Guy: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best (So Far)
1. Season 4
When Season 3 came to a close, Family Guy was cancelled... again. But after it became the highest rated show on Adult Swim, Fox resurrected it three years later. It seemed this hiatus worked to Seth MacFarlane's benefit as it gave him more time to fine-tune the characters' dynamic. This plan worked perfectly since Season 4 is where Family Guy shines brightest.
Because it was cancelled twice already, you'd assume the show would tone down the churlish humour and be more obsequious to the studio. Instead, the series' opening joke about how Fox cancelled them and dozens of great shows like Dark Angel and Firefly feels like the perfect 'screw you' to the studio for not giving them a chance.
Also, the PTV episode, where Peter creates his own network, deserves special mention since it serves as a massive middle finger to the FCC - the company responsible for censoring controversial content on television. PTV may not be the best episode but it's probably the most important one in the entire show since it proved Family Guy would never compromise its humour.
Also, The Freakin' FCC song is so goddamn catchy!
