It has already been confirmed that Kim Dickens character, Madison Tompkins (previously said to be named Nancy), will be a mother-of-two, while Cliff Curtis Travis Cabrera (previously stated to be called Sean) will also have a son. The creators have already said this show will focus on a different kind of family to that in The Walking Dead. While the characters in that show have banded together to become a sort-of family, and there are characters who are related, this suggests that well be seeing a slightly more traditional family dynamic in the spin-off. With Tompkins son said to be a drug-addict, her daughter ambitious, and Cabreras son rebellious, and also his ex who is set to turn up, theres a lot of elements that would create drama anyway, regardless of zombies. It sounds as if a lot of the story will focus on those elements, which the impending apocalypse will only serve to intensify. Itll present a different type of story to that told by its sibling, and open the door for a more character-driven series.
