Friends: 10 Reasons Why Ross Is The Worst Person Ever

8. That Time He Faked His Death

Ah, season nine, what an unforgivable mess you were.

The ninth season of Friends is a serious misstep in the show, full of far too many poor storylines to count, but easily the most insane and harsh of the bunch is The One with the Memorial Service, in which Ross and Chandler engage in an online feud and post lies about one another, only for the whole thing to get blown way out of proportion.

Things get nasty, and Chandler (who isn't much better off in the episode than Ross, to be fair) decides to tell his old college friends that Ross has died, hit by a blimp in a tragic accident.

At first (credit where it's due), Ross has the high ground, telling Chandler how out of line he is and how he's gone too far. But upon hearing that no one left a comment in response to the news, Ross decides to host a memorial service in his honour so he can hear people talk about him as if he had actually died.

One of the two people that turn up turns out to be an old college friend, who in her grief admits to have had a crush on Ross years ago, causing Ross to jump out and proclaim he isn't dead. He doesn't seem to care about insane he's being, or how hurt he's made his secret admirer, and the whole thing is in very poor taste.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
