Friends: The Worst Thing Each Friend Has Done!

Excuses like "we were on a break" won't fly here!

Friends Chandler And Kathy
WB

Friends is a sitcom that is loveable, perfect and totally not full of surprisingly dark undertones that make some of its characters look like sociopaths. Right? Well, not so much.

The sitcom was undoubtedly a massive exercise in wholesomeness and friendship. Still, although it had characters so charming and likeable that you'd let them spit on you and still feel warm and fuzzy inside, it certainly had plenty of moments that made you think, "damn, that's just not cool".

Part of what made the show so thrilling and successful was its relatability, which is why there were so many of these conflicting moments. Life is not a sitcom, and while this show is, it still didn't shy away from the reality that even good people make mistakes.

That is certainly true of these characters, as every member of the friend group did something terrible during the show's run ranging from ignorant to full-on psychopathic. However, this list will not deal with minor disputes. No, it shall comb through each character and talk in detail about the absolute worst thing they did.

6. Monica - Cut Chandler's Toe Off

Friends Chandler And Kathy
NBC

Now, it's easy to look at this entry and say, "hey, that was an accident, so surely she deserves to be let off the hook for it", and you'd be somewhat right. This was not a deliberate attack, but while it is true that this was only a silly mistake (and partially the result of an awful insult the year prior), it doesn't change the fact that it's hard to do something worse than cutting off someone's toe.

This moment came in the brilliant flashback episode, "The One With All The Thanksgivings". After being called "fat" by Chandler the year prior, Monica decided to get revenge by seducing him and embarrassing him. But, after a clumsy mishap with a knife, she ended up severing his toe instead.

To make matters worse, the doctors revealed that it could have been reattached, but Monica unwittingly brought a carrot to the hospital instead of Chandler's little piggy.

Accidents can be forgiven, but very few people in the world - outside of cannibals and masochists - can say, "I've cut someone's toe off". Thankfully, their love was strong enough to pull them through. Still, Monica is a chef; she should be chopping vegetables, not pinky toes.
