Futurama: 50 Best Ever Episodes

34. Hell Is Other Robots

The truth is, you just haven't lived until your animated sitcom has done a ridiculously catchy musical number, and "Hell Is Other Robots" has got one for the ages. The Robot Devil's glorious song about all of Bender's sins helped to make him one of Futurama's most beloved villains, all of it thanks to a legendary performance by Dan Castellaneta. It's also a very poignant commentary on religion, the depths at which people will fall to and a stirring visual synergy that even sees Bender ascend from the pit of Hell itself as a reborn sinner. It almost plays like an after school special, with Fry and Leela trying to tempt Bender back into his life of debauchery.

33. The Lesser Of Two Evils

When Futurama goes for the gold, they come out with something like "The Lesser of Two Evils", where everything just works in every possible way. A seemingly evil version of Bender known as Flexo comes aboard the Planet Express crew, and you just know he's evil because he's sporting the Spock goatee from the classic Star Trek episode "Mirror, Mirror". Futurama's love of Star Trek can't be denied. It's simply filled to the brim with so much wonderful stuff, from Fry's excursions in a recreation of the 20th century to the Bob Barker cameo and a fantastic fake out featuring Flexo that reveals what we knew all along; Bender is the evil one, and we love him all the more for that.
