7. Euron Greyjoy
In an ideal world, Euron would be here for a completely different reason. The pirate lord is one of the most fearsome characters in the book, with his eerie ship The Silence so named because he cut the tongues out of his crew mates to keep them all in line.
He was supposed to be a merciless mix of Blackbeard and Gaston with a little bit of Joker’s craziness thrown in there. In the end, it was closer to a coked up Jack Sparrow.
While he didn’t really do much to warrant being hated for god villainy, the way he was used (or more often, misused) which left him hated. He killed off one of Daenerys’ dragons, but... how? How could he land such a killer shot in one blow through near impenetrable dragon skin? How didn’t Dany see him? How were they all such terrible shots on Drogon just one episode later?
It’s nonsense like this which sees Euron join the ranks of most hated characters. Pilou Asbaek’s claim that he’d make Ramsay look like a pussycat didn’t help, but he felt doomed from the start.
At least he killed the Sand Snakes, eh?
