Game Of Thrones: 10 Questions We’re Asking After 'Sons Of The Harpy'

6. Who Is Jon Snow's Father?

There's been a great deal of furore surrounding who Jon's mother is, and what that could mean for his future, but here's a curveball: What if Ned Stark isn't the father at all? Stannis' wife turns her nose up at Jon "a bastard by some tavern slut" Snow, though Stannis himself defends the late-Warden Of The North by saying "that wasn€™t Ned Stark€™s way." And he's dead right. That wasn't the honourable Ned Stark's way. All we really know about Jon's childhood is that he was brought back to Winterfell by Ned Stark though he refused to speak out about the mother. Ned once told King Robert she was a serving girl named Wylla, but that could easily be a story to cover his tracks. If the mother was a servant, tavern girl or prostitute, surely her identity wasn't important enough for him to die without spilling the details. There's almost certainly Stark blood running through Jon, but what if it isn't because of a mistake that Ned made?
