Game Of Thrones: 10 Questions We’re Asking After 'Sons Of The Harpy'
5. What Do The Rhaegar/Lyanna References Mean?
Danerys' older brother Rhaegar has been painted in an evil light throughout the show so far, but the respected old knight Barristan Selmy - who once served the Targaryens during their reign - told Daenerys the curious tale of Rhaegar singing and performing in the streets. It was a total contrast to the war-mongering picture painted by Robert Baratheon after the Targaryen reportedly kidnapped and raped the love of his life, Lyanna Stark, before she died in mysterious circumstances. It sparked the start of Robert's Rebellion, but the references are still being made, with Baelish reminding us all of her backstory to Sansa in the crypt. The internet is full of theories about the pair, with some wildly - yet popularly - claiming that they could well be the parents of Jon Snow. Not even books readers are privy to who Snow's real parents are so there's nothing to spoil, but if Jon really does turn out to be half-Stark, half Targaryen, that could have some insane repercussions for the entire Seven Kingdoms and beyond.
