Game of Thrones: 10 Storylines So Boring They'll Put You To Sleep

5. Daenerys In Qarth

Daenerys is a tremendous character, and it's clear why fans love her. She survived the abuse of her brother, a forced marriage to a barbarian and is the last Targaryen. Also, Daenerys Stormborn and Mother of Dragons might be the coolest monikers in all of television. However, she does have a tendency to hang around places a little too long. There's a race on for the Iron Throne, to avenge her family, and defeat the White Walkers, yet time and again she can be found stumbling upon, or liberating some unfamiliar city. Qarth is the first such side quest. The viewer's introduction to Qarth is suitably foreboding, with the bones of previous wanderers lying outside the immense walls of the city, but while this could have been an interesting diversion for an episode or two, it becomes a major part of the second season. While the Spice King is memorable, and Xaro meets a suitable end, it all just takes too long. The sort of issue that keeps cropping up with Daenerys' storylines in general.
