Game Of Thrones: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Season 2
11. Theon Predicts His Fate
This season sees Theon go on a huge journey: he returns him to his birth family, and betrays his adopted one. He tries to become the leader his lineage dictates, and ends up with all his arrogance being stripped away.
Back when Season 2 first aired, it was easy to dislike Theon this year. He turns against his best friend, executes Rodrick Cassel, and is generally a prick for the vast majority of it, even if you can see the veneer of vulnerability and fear shining through. It's those latter elements that become more prominent on rewatch, when you know just how horrible Theon's story is about to become. Even worse, though, is that he predicts his own downfall, saying in Episode 7, A Man Without Honor:
"I'm looking at spending the rest of my life being treated like a fool and a eunuch by my own people. Ask yourself if there's anything I wouldn't do to stop that from happening?"
Oh, Theon. Mate.
