Game Of Thrones' 15 Hardest Characters (And How Likely They Are To Survive)

12. Beric Dondarrion

Game of Thrones Jaime and Bronn
HBO

Initially dispatched by the late great Eddard Stark to locate and execute the Mountain in the name of the then King Robert, Lord Beric, Thoros and co. did about as well as could be expected. A lance through the heart later and Beric's destiny would forever change. He has seen the darkness and the terrors. What's a Lord to do but defend his people?

In terms of toughness we've seen the Lightning Lord lose to the hound first hand after a very good showing. We've also heard of his defeat at the hands of the Mountain. No shame in that, but what is somewhat important to note is that he was killed both exchanges. He's been killed a whopping six times so far! that's nearing boss level numbers.

Each time he was resurrected by his best mate and long time companion, Thoros Of Myr, the Red Priest. While that kind of bouncebackability should by rights make him the toughest S.O.B in Game Of Thrones he told Arya that each time he comes back from that crushing darkness he loses a piece of himself. A tragic hero befitting the genre.

If we were following the books we would see a touching exchange between Beric and Thoros that would end with The Drunken holy man bringing back Catelyn instead of his friend. Lady Stoneheart is a firm no according to Benioff and Weiss, so the Lightning Lord may have to suffer on.

Chance Of Survival: 40%
