Game Of Thrones: 15 Moments That Pissed Off The Fans

10. Missing Characters (Part 2)

In Season 5, aside from the whole host of Ironborn not to appear, the two most conspicuous absences are those of Arianne Martell and Aegon Targaryen. The former is the eldest child of Prince Doran Martell, while the latter is supposedly the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, who was said to be killed as a child by The Mountain.

Arianne plays a pivotal role in the Dorne storyline, including a plan to raise Myrcella Baratheon to the throne, while Aegon heads to Westeros to stake his own claim. Indeed, the two are set to meet in The Winds of Winter (when it is eventually published) as Arianne has been sent to find the alleged Targaryen prince and discover whether he is real or a fraud. Thus far neither character has appeared, nor do they seem likely to, which indicates Aegon is the latter.

There are of course many other characters who haven’t survived the transition of book to TV, and plenty of others are no doubt worthy of a mention, but these are certainly some of the most notable, either because they’re so popular or for their impact on the story (there is one big omission, but that’s coming later).
