Game Of Thrones: 8 Most Exciting New Additions For Season 6
2. Ian McShane's Mysterious Character
Ian McShane's character still hasn't officially been confirmed, although thanks to some other casting a few of the early contenders - Randyll Tarly and Euron Greyjoy, for example - can definitely be ruled out.
There's still a couple of other possibilities - Marwyn the Mage being one - but the extreme likelihood is that he's the Elder Brother, with a bit of Septon Meribald thrown in there as well.
McShane's comments have seemingly confirmed this, as he's stated at various points that he's only in one episode, it's a small but key part, and he's responsible for bringing back a character everyone thought was dead. All of that fits with the Elder Brother, and that's exciting because it could bring Brienne's storyline back round to where it is in the books, and way more so because of that character he'll be bringing back. No spoilers for this point, but let's just say it ain't Jon Snow.
The Elder Brother is a bit against type of McShane, a good character rather than a rogue, but that only makes the casting more interesting, and regardless you can expect him to bring a real sense of gravitas to the character, even if he does think the show is just "t*ts and dragons".
