No amount of being an actual real life meme can get around the fact that you're a horribly under-used character.

Gendry was introduced as a slightly cooler older brother sort of figure for Arya (or Arry, more appropriately), having been announced as the bastard son of Robert Baratheon, and the key to unseating the Lannisters from King's Landing. He's about as close as we're ever going to get to a pin-up to rival Jon Snow, and he's probably the character most fans secretly pins their hopes on, despite the fact that he's now spent several years rowing around in a boat somewhere.

He'll be back, and soon, and that might push him into the top rankings, provided it doesn't end painfully. Which it will.

Ideally, we'll see Arya and Gendry reunited, married and ruling the Seven Kingdoms together in peace, which sounds so perfectly lovely that it's now almost assured that he will die horribly.
