15. Benjen Stark

For a long time, Benjen Stark sat alongside Gendry in the "where are they now" stable, having disappeared to heroically wander around north of the wall for no real reason during the first season. We were assured he was dead, since his horse returned without him and he didn't turn up at Craster's Keep, but then incredibly, it turned out that he was actually Cold Hands - a sort of semi-undead pseudo-zombie saved from turning into a wight by the Children Of The Forest.

He might have only returned briefly to help Bran, but he's still out there, and that means the South has a powerful last line of defence against the Walkers who could yet be a useful weapon against their ominous invasion. You'd like to think that means he will be appearing in some significant ways in the next season, which could put him up there with the other wildcard characters (like Tormund, the Hound and Bronn) in terms of interest.

A reunion with Jon would be nice too, given that his name was used to lure the poor sap to his "death".
