Game Of Thrones: Ranking Every Major Battle From Worst To Best
9. Siege Of Meereen
While it understandably didn't grab the headlines due to what came next in this episode, the Siege of Meereen deserves to be more favourably remembered than it currently is. Sure, it's not the Battle of the Bastards, but it's still an exhilarating, blistering sequence that gave us the first real taste of what all of Daenerys' dragons were capable of.
The culmination of a storyline that dated all the way to Season 3, and in a broader sense Dany's whole arc, her victory here - played out in epic, fire-breathing style - directly ties into her being able to finally head to Westeros, the liberation of Slaver's Bay complete.
This wasn't so much a battle as it was total annihilation; the surprise attack from the dragons, all soaring into battle in tandem as one destructive force, was a sight to behold and one we'd been waiting for since the end of Season 1.
