Barring the opening moments of the series, this was our first true look at the army of the dead in all its haunting glory.

The Battle at the Fist of the First Men isn't up there with what'd follow involving the White Walkers, especially as there isn't all that much fighting to speak of - the Night's Watch are completely overrun and don't stand a chance, but it also focuses more on Samwell Tarly before and after - but it still works by offering up some strong, icy visuals and a good reminder of what the real threat is.
