Game Of Thrones Season 6: 5 Reasons Cleganebowl Needs To Happen (And 3 It Doesn't)

2. Cleganebowl No: Screen Time

With the end in sight now for Game Of Thrones, there are so many loose ends to tie up and such a small amount of time to do it in. A Cleganebowl done well could tie in with everything very nicely, but marrying it with the main plot neatly takes time. The show needs a solid, well told ending more than Cleganebowl needs to happen and other scenes may have to take precedence. If other scenes take precedence, it may not be possible to tie it into anything, making it a frivolous aside.

Sandor could feasibly just pop up in kings landing in a while, foregoing his journey but is that the best option? There's no doubt that there is enough rich dialogue sewing this seed throughout the seasons, but given that all it will amount to is the end of a two person conflict I'm not sure it's the most responsible thing to do. This show has to move at least three huge armies into place for the end and must wrap up much of the intrigue in tandem.

We may have shorter seasons as the long night approaches and we need to make some painful sacrifices. The rest of this season may provide an answer but Cleganebowl may have to be one of those sacrifices.
