As soon as Tyrion came face to face with Dany's dragons and wasn't gobbled up whole or flambeed to a crisp in seconds, there was a pretty big hint that there was symbolism to his preservation. The beasts knew not to kill him, despite not having met him or him having the protection of their Mistress.

Well, either that or he was deemed too insignficant a morsel to bother with, anyway.

The best theory suggests that like Jon he is born of the Targaryen line (hence his differences to his siblings and the general "impurity" vibe we're supposed to attach to him compared to them). It might still be a pretty bold suggestion, especially with Jon's revelation still very fresh in the memory, but it's the direction that makes the most sense for the diminutive genius.

And the best way to do it? Get him on a dragon immediately.
