Game Of Thrones Season 7 Implications: What "The Spoils Of War" Really Means

8. The Cave Drawings

As was predicted when the trailer came out, Dany sending Jon down to the caves beneath Dragonstone gave him the perfect evidence to convince her of the legitimacy of the White Walker threat. He gave her a quick tour of the stunning caverns before revealing that her ancestors - well, everyone's ancestors - the first men used the caves as a sort of historical record of their war with the Night King.

That was almost enough evidence anyway, as she predictably held on to her frivolous obsession with politics, insisting that Jon bend the knee before she agreed to help fight the White Walkers. He refused, fearing a rebellion from the Northern bannermen, but she probably has a point that they will follow him no matter what he does (though maybe not Yohn Royce).

With her counter-argument ringing in his ears, him bending the knee seems inevitable. It's probably now the only way he can get off Dragonstone too, since Dany wants to keep whatever allies she has close to her in light of the Unsullied's besiegement at Castlery Rock.

Not shown was the scene just before this when Jon stashed the crayons he used to draw those cave drawings before leading Dany into the dark.
