Game Of Thrones Season 8: 15 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It

Daenerys becoming the Mad Queen should have worked. She was always ruthless, she was power-hungry, and she lost about everything. In theory, her turn to evil should have been great, but the execution was horrible.

The show rushed her turn to evil with the deaths of Jorah and Missandei in two consecutive episodes, and then her snapping in the episode thereafter. That’s way too quick and thus the transformation too sudden. If more time was spent showing how those deaths truly impacted her psyche – and maybe even show flashes of that psyche before she completely loses it – her transformation would have made more sense. But because it’s so rushed and under-developed, the turn feels like a complete 180.

Not to mention that the Daenerys we knew cared about innocents (remember in season 4 how devastated she was when Drogon burned a child?), and she had said she wasn’t going to be the “queen of the ashes”. And she becomes exactly that because…the Lannisters surrender and for some reason that makes her want to commit mass genocide?

Daenerys’s Mad Queen storyline could and should have worked, but it happens too fast, and it ends too fast when Jon kills her in the immediate aftermath, and it was ultimately a disservice to the character.
