Game Of Thrones: 10 Flashbacks That Must Be In Season 5

6. The Tourney At Harrenhal

An event full of sub-context and scandal, the tourney at Harrenhal is one that would be prime for a flashback event, or several. First and foremost is the fact that the whole thing was arranged as a pre-text for Rhaegar and the lords of the realm to discuss removing King Aerys II from power. Unfortunately the king found out, meaning he turned from being just crazy to paranoid as well. Then there is the fact that the entire Stark family are also in attendance, with the event surrounded by rumours of Lyanna and Rhaegar having a secret affair. This is all given more credit when Rhaegar wins the tourney and declares Lyanna as the Queen of Love and Beauty, despite the fact he is married to Elia Martell. All of that is witnessed by one Howland Reed, who see Jaime Lannister inducted into the Kingsguard, which is thought to be as revenge for Tywin resigning as Hand of the King, something we talked about in the last post. During the tournament Lyanna Stark protects Reed when bullies attack him, while later a mysterious knight going by the name of the Knight of the Laughing Tree fights to protect his honour on the battlefield. Rumours abound are that the knight may have been Lyanna Stark. Seriously, given all that sub context and intrigue, this is certainly an event that is prime for the picking and one that absolutely nobody would be disappointed to witness. Given that the whole thing sets up Rhaegar€™s kidnap of Lyanna and Robert€™s Rebellion, and you literally have no reasons to exclude it.
