Game Of Thrones: 15 Upcoming Problems That Could Potentially Derail It
13. Arya Seeks Vengeance And Then...
Arya's story line just gets better and better, thanks to her training with Syrio, the death of her father and her escape from Kings Landing in Game Of Thrones, not to mention her journey with the Nights Watch, capture at Harrenhal and acting as squire to Tywin alongside her dangerous relationship with Jaqen H'ghar in A Clash Of Kings. And then of course there's her encounter with Brotherhood Without Banners, journey with the Hound and the infamous Red Wedding in A Storm Of Swords; it's safe to say that Arya has witnessed some of the stand out moments of the books so far. Maisie Williams is a revelation as Arya on the show: even at such a young age she has given so much conviction and passion to her performance that she has demonstrated her ability to match the powerhouse performances of actors like Charles Dance and Rory McCann on a weekly basis. The trouble is, Arya may have an interesting arc coming up, travelling to Braavos and apprenticing at the House of Black and White, but the pace of her story slows rapidly to the point she has just a handful of cool moments across the last two books. That's not to say the show can't expand this; Arya's relationship with vengeance and death make for a fascinating story, but a brief encounter with Sam aside, it becomes massively isolated from the rest of the events taking place across the sea in Westeros. If the writers want to keep her as a major player on the show, they're going to have to start getting creative.
