Game Of Thrones Season 4: 10 Book Deviations We'd Love To See
8. The Bronn And Jaime Power Hour
If you weren't paying attention last season, Westeros' most renowned king-slayer/child-murderer/incest-advocate, Jaime Lannister, somehow managed to wiggle his way up to the title of "Everyone's Favorite Character Bar Tyrion". And all he had to do was lose a hand and challenge a bear to a pit fight. Now that he's returned to King's Landing and rejoined the Kingsguard, Jaime's going to need some training with his new sword hand, which up until now has been regulated mostly to "imaginary girlfriend" duty. In the books, Jaime selects the headsman Ser Ilyn Payne as his sparring partner. But since actor Wilko Johnson will no longer be able to appear on the show due to pretty tragic circumstances, the writers decided to substitute his character with fan-favourite Bronn. Now, maybe we're just being overly-optimistic, but this could very well lead to the best spin-off in television history. Or, at the very least, some memes and a YouTube compilation. Don't get us wrong here. As much as we'd like to see the show go completely off-track and follow Jaime and Bronn on a buddy cop rampage across the Seven Kingdoms, there's actually a lot of potential here. As we all know, Tyrion isn't long for King's Landing, leaving Bronn to hole up in a castle and just sort of linger. But having Bronn accompany Jaime to Riverrun would be a nice diversion, and substituting Bronn in Payne's role could solve the problem of keeping everyone's favourite sellsword on the show and making sure Jerome Flynn doesn't return to his music career when his contract expires.
