Game Of Thrones Season 4: 12 Characters Who Could Steal The Show

3. The Mountain

How many TV-only viewers remember the Hound€™s brother? Raise your hands. Not many there. Many viewers have probably forgotten about the older Clegane It€™s not their faults though as he's rarely made an appearance, and it certainly doesn€™t help that he's seen 2 recasts since the show€™s first season. The Mountain, originally played by Conan Stevens, made his debut during the King€™s Landing Tournament by €œaccidentally€ impaling his opponent with his spear. Later during the tourney, he faces off against Ser Loras Tyrell which results in a loss after Loras cheated to win. An infuriated Gregor attempts murder, but is stopped by the Hound leading to an intense battle revealing their hatred for each other. Afterwards, the Mountain is rarely seen again due to a couple of factor, the most important being that Stevens left the show to film The Hobbit in New Zealand. His height and mountainous frame was impossible to replicate so the creators were forced to Ian Whyte in season 2. Ian had the height of Stevens but his frame was drastically thinner, making him look like a lovable giant rather than the freakishly huge, fear-instilling monster. Thankfully Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, a match to Stevens, has been cast as the Mountain this season. He will play a huge role this season, more specifically, towards the end. Since the Mountain is drastic, a pivotal focus will be placed on him, his backstory, and most importantly, his evil actions. By the end of this season, the Mountain will be hated by every viewer and surely never forgotten. Viewers will be reminded of his past as well as learning new information, and the most important part is making sure the Mountain is established as an immense threat and despicable monster throughout the season. Expect brutal murders, loathsome torture, and a controversial moment with a young girl at an inn. All these events will lead to a showdown that will send shockwaves around Westeros. But it takes two to tango€
