It won't come as a surprise to anyone that Jerome's interrogation is featured on this list, as it is often hailed as one of the best scenes in the entirety of Gotham's five season run.

Jerome was called in for questioning by Jim Gordon regarding the mysterious death of his mother. Shortly into the conversation and within a matter of seconds, gone was the grieving son. Tears of despair transformed into a maniacal laugh and there, the first prototype Joker was born.

Gotham's writers likely didn't know just how big of a presence Jerome - and later Jeremiah - would grow to have in the show, but Monaghan's performance was electric and so it's no surprise he kept coming back.

It must be a daunting task to take on the iconic Joker laugh, but Monaghan seemed to do so with great confidence. His performance as Jerome is like no other Joker that has come before - you can easily see why the scene went viral.
