Grey's Anatomy: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
8. Season 14
The first season to feature long-time writer Krista Vernoff as showrunner, Grey's 14th outing takes a refreshingly upbeat approach to its drama, making it a welcome breath of fresh air following years of all-out relentless tragedy.
With some added comedy courtesy of the arrival of DeLuca's OB/GYN sister Carina, the season's most prominent developments give many long-suffering surgeons a much-needed break. Jackson inherits his late grandfather's fortune, Karev and Jo finally get married, and Meredith wins the coveted Harper Avery Award.
There are some hardships amongst these splashes of happiness, of course (this is still Grey's Anatomy, after all), from the reveal that Harper Avery was a sexual predator who used his wealth to escape accountability, to Amelia's battle to survive a brain tumour, but not enough to leave you reeling too badly.
Season 14 tackles the usual with a comforting display of togetherness, giving touching moments to Karev and Jo after years of struggle, following Meredith as she reaches a new career high, and allowing April to find solace after a wrenching crisis of faith. It's still heartbreaking, but the joy is there in wonderful abundance.
