Hawkeye: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

When the cast for Hawkeye was announced, aside from the obvious headliners that were Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, the name that stood out the most was Vera Farmiga. This was a huge deal for the MCU, and someone of this stature simply had to be playing a bigger role than just ‘Kate’s mother’.

Thankfully, Hawkeye took some inspiration from the character in the comics, and turned her into a villain. Farmiga can play devious in her sleep, and though the character hid it well for the majority of the series, there were subtle hints and clues throughout that she wasn’t all she appeared to be.

It takes a certain kind of monster to hire an assassin to kill one of the original Avengers that saved the planet in the Battle of New York. He actively saved Eleanor’s daughter from being killed by aliens, but on the other hand, you could argue that he was putting her life in danger with the Tracksuit Mafia.

There were two sides to Eleanor in Hawkeye, the villain who framed her fiancé and killed Armand, but there is also the loving mother who was genuinely working for Fisk to pay off her husband’s debts and protect Kate. She was conflicted, yet at the same time strangely remorseless. A complicated character who could be an asset to the MCU moving forward if used properly.
