He does have the mannerisms of a dog: running after objects, poking his head and shoulders out of a vehicle, and scratching the back of his ear. Ted and Marshall even play catch with him in the apartment. He also happens to come from Labrador, which adds to the comedy.

This is another relationship whose dynamics aren’t in any way explored by the show. The most exciting thing to happen was when he ate an entire tray of weed brownies and got lost in the city. The gang finds him peeing on a fire hydrant and he nearly gets run over heading back to them. Robin remembers him as the worst kisser ever. He slobbers all over her cheeks like a dog.
