Always Sunny has a knack for commenting on real world issues and the gang often try to capitalise on them in their own, cynical fashion.

Skyrocketing gas prices? Time for the gang to become door to door oil salesmen. Climate change becoming a problem? What a perfect opportunity to capitalise on a global issue and crank the air conditioning in the bar to profit from it.

In season 12, Mac and Charlie were looking to capitalise on the booming popularity of true crime documentaries by creating one of their own. They have the perfect subject too, in Paddy's Pub's resident sociopath, Dennis Reynolds.

After the suspicious death of Maureen Ponderosa, Dennis's ex-wife, an investigation takes place in to her death. Dennis's inner monster really shines and there are a few really eerie moments that show him in a whole new light. Dee lets slip that as a young boy, Dennis would often capture and kill crows, to "test the tensile strength of their necks," and during an interview with the police, Dennis stares blankly at the camera for two whole hours. No blinking, no moving, nothing. A downright terrifying moment that peels back the facade that Dennis has created.

While it's never explicitly confirmed that Dennis murdered Maureen, and security footage shows she apparently fell from the roof, the hints at his troublesome youth and clear lack of any emotion indicate a pattern of behaviour that definitely points to Dennis being up to something extremely sinister when the rest of the gang aren't around.
