Marvel's The Defenders: 8 Things That Must Happen

3. More Than A Cameo For The Punisher

Recently, a long-running assumption from fans was confirmed. In an international trailer for The Defenders - narrated by the one and only Stan Lee himself - a short clip of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher was dropped at the end. Yep, it looks like Frank Castle will be on hand to help out his old pal Red take down some ninjas in the upcoming mini-series.

While that's great news, it would be a bit of a shame if all he gets in the series is a quick cameo when the Defenders are in need - e.g. just like his role in the Daredevil season two finale. With his upcoming solo series, and his prominent role on the Hornhead's show, the Punisher is definitely as high-profile a hero as the rest of the team and deserves a major role on The Defenders. To feature him in a brief cameo and then make us wait until The Defenders 2 to see him properly interact with the others would be a big disappointment.

So far only the first four episodes have been released to critics. Is it possible that Frank Castle could have a major presence in the back half of the season? Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but it would begin to explain why Marvel decided to blow his appearance in that aforementioned trailer.
