Marvel's Daredevil: 10 Reasons It's The Best Comic Book Show Ever
2. The MCU Connections Are Subtle
When Daredevil was announced, the question of MCU connection was always pertinent. The answer is that it doesn't labour these connections at all; in fact, they are few and far between. The connections aren't big and obvious - there is no Iron Man cameo to be found, for example. Rather, they are subtly hinted at throughout the show and provide a nice backdrop for the story of Daredevil.
Wilson Fisk's main plan involves profiteering from the rebuilding of Hell's Kitchen after 'The Battle Of New York', which was of course the climactic skirmish of The Avengers movie.
This lets the audience know that we're in the same world, but looking at proceedings from an entirely different angle. If The Avengers are looking at things from a worldwide perspective, then Daredevil will deal with the consequences and affected lives of the normal people of New York City. It is a street-level view of a superhero story, one that audience's have yet to experience from Marvel.
This subtle approach was the correct decision from Marvel, who seem to have learnt from their mistakes when translating Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. to TV screens. It is also the complete opposite approach to the creators of Gotham, who repeatedly hammer their viewers over the head with clumsily overt Batman references.
