Elektra was a good addition to the show for a few different reasons, such as her ninja skills and willingness to kill, but also the fact that she's Matt's former lover, and brings an added element of humour to the show.

Both were combined in the diner scene, which immediately followed their playing-ninjas, as she reveals that she knew Matt was Daredevil because she'd seen him on the news, and "you can't mask that a*s" because she'd no it anywhere. It's hard to know if she's joking or actually being serious.
