Master Of None: 10 Reasons It's The Most Underrated Netflix Original Series

5. ... And Life Advice In General

Master Of None
Netflix

Dev isn't a particularly interesting character. He's a typical middle-class thirty year old, who doesn't know what to do with his life. He's an actor, but one that is struggling and in need of work. By the end of the first season he packs his bags and leaves. As it turns out in the second season, he moves to Italy to learn how to make pasta.

This is the typical dream of a corporate worker - to quit work at the corporation and do basic things. Obviously it's idyllic and naive, and the first episode of the second season explicitly mocks this notion of regular life. Dev is the stereotypical outsider embraced by the local community - something that's really hard to achieve, unless you're handsome, rich or famous of course.

By focusing less on Dev and more on other characters, even for a short while, the series shows how people of various professions and backgrounds can find happiness. Just like love, happiness is individual. That's why the show gives proposals, not answers.
