7. The Good Old Days (Vol. 5)
Cassidy the Vampire is one of the series most interesting and fun characters. Sure he's a prick but he's also Jesse's right hand man (until he sleeps with his girl) and as such, if cast correctly, would be an instant fan favourite for sure. Alongside the usual plot lines there is definite interest in the character's back story and we're lucky enough to have a few of those gaps plugged for us courtesy of the comic book writers. Cassidy's early years is certainly something that will be expounded upon when/if the show becomes a reality. One of the more interesting non-linear moments for good old Cass takes place in Volume 5 in which we see him walking the streets of New Orleans with fellow blood sucker Eccarious - a far more eloquent vamp in the same vein as Anne Rice's Lestat. This is the first time Cassidy has seemingly encountered one of his own and an odd friendship blossoms. It doesn't take long though for the shine of this new alliance to vanish and Cass takes it upon himself to eke out a little Vampire justice. There's enough here for a Cassidy spin-off if the show doesn't wonder down this path but for now let's hope we get to see a little of Cassidy's pre-Preacher life in the AMC series.
