9. Cloak & Dagger

MCU TV Shows Ranked
Marvel Television / Walt Disney Television

Part love story, part coming-of-age teen drama, part superhero shenanigans, Freeform's Cloak & Dagger series looked to introduce the show's two titular young heroes into the mainstream of the MCU.

In a shared MCU realm featuring heavy hitters like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man and the Hulk, the duo of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson are certainly on the lesser-known side of things when it comes to casual audiences.

Set in New Orleans, Cloak & Dagger found Olivia Holt's Tandy and Aubrey Joseph's Tyrone as superpowered kindred spirits on a mission of self-discovery. That mission soon had the pair realising that their abilities compliment each other's, and that they work far better in tandem than on their own.

On the whole, the series embraced the relatively unknown nature of its titular twosome and was able to create an interesting, emotional narrative that didn't have the pressures of certain other, more popular properties. In particular, the overarching plot of mysterious female abductions in season two allowed Cloak & Dagger a chance to really shine.

Despite impressive numbers by Freeform's standards, and two seasons that were well received by both fans and critics alike, the call was made to axe Cloak & Dagger once the series' second season finished up in 2019.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics.
