In this early series-defining episode, the premise begins life relatively innocent, Morty wants to attract a girl from his high school at a dance and Rick creates a love potion that will enable to do this for him.

What they didn't bank on was the possibility of everybody on the face of Earth catching the same pheromones and feelings. Which leaves the world insatiably lusting over the adolescent, clawing through one another for a piece of Morty.

As the serum goes sour, so too does the world around them. Causing our two anti-heroes to flee. Leaving the world to succumb to the manic Cronenberg-esque monstrosity of a world that was left with no option but to reinitialise itself, with its inhabitants either becoming atrocious inhuman travesties or simply reverting to undomesticated feral beasts in the place of society.

The most grotesque of iniquities, however, comes in the dying moments as we evidently see the stark contrast between Rick and Morty in terms of humility.

It traumatised Morty beyond comprehension, almost to the point of desensitization, all while Rick is kicking back on the sofa and watching TV with a succulent beverage - if you can believe that.
