19. Evelyn Evernever

Originally introduced as Edgar Evernever's devoted daughter, Farm recruiter Evelyn was obsessed with, well, recruiting people to The Farm. An in-your-face character of the highest degree, she was the kind of person that would be nice to your face only to stab you in the back - which makes sense considering she was masquerading as Edgar's daughter when she was actually his wife.

Evelyn's sole purpose was devotion to The Farm so, unlike some of the other characters on this list, she completely got away with being infuriating. Her behaviour was indeed off-the-wall but it was consistently off-the-wall and, as a result, it felt totally believable. She was the kind of character you just wanted Betty to punch in the face - and not because she was behaving out of character, because she was behaving totally in character.

Zoé de Grand'Maison did a fantastic job as Evelyn, making sure that she came across every bit as invasive and unnerving as the writers wanted her to. Was Evelyn an annoying character? Absolutely. But she was supposed to be - and, believe it or not, that's what made her one of The Farm's only bearable characters.
