Riverdale Season 3: 2 Ups & 4 Downs From 'Prom Night'

Downs...

4. Conveniences Galore

Riverdale Archie Andrews Veronica Lodge
The CW

The return of Archie's mother undoubtedly brought with it new issues for Riverdale's red paladin. While she wanted him to fight an exhibition match for a naval recruiter, he wanted to do it professionally. That said, he happily agreed to her request, scheduling the exhibition fight for Friday night, knowing that his professional match was on Saturday. Well, you know, until it wasn't...

Yeah, that's right, in a convenient attempt to force some conflict, Archie discovered that his professional match had been rescheduled to the Friday as well. But he didn't discover it for himself, no it just so happened to be thrown in at the last minute by the man weighing him in preparation for it just so he could have a dramatic realisation that both fights were on the same day.

Surely if Archie was so passionate about this professional match, he would have been well-aware of any changes to the night. Wouldn't his manager, Veronica, have been informed since she's running that side of things for him? Finally, why would a professional boxing match be rescheduled to a night earlier at the very last minute without warning anyone?

Yet again, these are questions we're not supposed to be asking and, as a result, we won't get the answers. This was nothing more than a convenient way to force some internal conflict within Archie and ultimately force him to push himself too hard. Couldn't that have been accomplished in a, well, less convenient way?

Speaking of conveniences...
