Archie Andrews has always been quite the divisive character. The protagonist of the show, he rarely feels like he lives up to that role these days as he often gets lost in the midst of Betty and Jughead's investigations and Veronica's family issues - and when he does get a storyline of his own, he has an infuriating tendency to ignore advice and do the wrong thing. That, however, doesn't change the good heart within.

Archie's guilt over almost attacking an innocent man in his grief made him reflect on all the mistakes he had made during his life, claiming that he was a bad son. But he wasn't a bad son - quite the opposite in fact. As Shannen Doherty's character reminded him, Fred knew what a good man his son was and never missed a chance to speak lovingly about him. That's how much he loved him, in spite of his flaws.

Thus, as Archie looked up at sky during the gang's private firework party in Fred's memory, he vowed to be the man that his father always knew he was capable of being, honouring him every single day of his life. And that's an Archie Andrews that we all can get behind.
